3 octobre 2017 | Genève - Une nouvelle stratégie ambitieuse visant à faire baisser de 90% le nombre des décès dus au choléra d’ici 2030 sera présentée demain par le Groupe spécial mondial de lutte contre le choléra (GTFCC: Global Task Force on Cholera Control), un réseau rassemblant plus d’une cinquantaine d’institutions des Nations Unies, d’organismes internationaux, d’instituts universitaires et d’ONG qui aident les pays touchés par cette maladie. Chaque année selon les estimations, 95 000 personnes meurent du choléra et 2,9 millions contractent cette maladie. Une action urgente est nécessaire pour protéger les communautés, prévenir la transmission et enrayer les flambées. An evaluation of college teachers in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh (UP) last week showed that some of the professors lack even basic knowledge of the subjects they teach. For instance, an economics professor did not know what “audit” means or what “IMF” (International Monetary Fund) stands for. There was a similar revelation among students in Bihar in June. In this state, neighbouring UP, the class 12 topper said political science involves cooking. Such instances are proof of the grim condition of education in India.
